Combining the piano with electronic music.
Hello everyone. I'm Ionika, or you can call me Eddie Cai. I like to produce all kinds of music, especially electronic music, but I also like to dive into making piano covers of relaxing and popular songs. Starting to produce was a spontaneous thing for me. I listened to a Dubstep track by Skrillex, and started to use default Apple Loops in Garageband to screw around with. I watched tutorials on Youtube, read blogs, did a lot of research on audio and music, and soon enough I was using Logic Pro 9 and these pro plugins. I had no clue as to how to use that DAW so I struggled and uploaded some...pretty bad music, I have to admit. I didn't understand mixing or what EQing meant, so either my drums were too quiet, or my melody shared too many of the same frequencies with other instruments.
Soon, I got criticisms from other producers saying my mixing sucked or this instrument was louder or quieter than the rest, etc. So I took in the criticism and read up on mixing and mastering. I got so much of a better understanding and now everyone's praising my music which makes me happy. I got signed to Unreal Sound Records around 2013, which is an amazing label to try to get signed to, especially for underground producers. Go give it a try and say Ionika sent you!
After I spent some time listening to some other music besides Dubstep, I began to attempt to acoustically cover love songs and relaxing songs. It turned out pretty well, since I was playing piano since the age of 4 and even if I didn't know how to use a guitar, Logic's guitar was good enough to cover it up. I also have this gift called "Synesthesia". It's amazing, and fun to play around with. When I was little, I used to press piano keys and see these colours pop up like fireworks in front of my eyes. Now I use this gift to memorise piano music.
2014, my music is getting a lot of praise, and I thank you all for the support. I try to please everyone especially myself, since I do this for an enjoyment, and if I don't like my own music, I don't think anyone will. So now I have a wider range of genres and I'm still learning to produce more. I use Logic Pro X & Ableton Live 9. If you guys want a specific genre for me to produce, comment on my tracks and majority wins! I hope my music makes you smile and make you bob your head to the beat. "We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams." Thanks for reading this whole thing if you did. It tells you a lot about me. ^O^
