International Criminal is a five-piece funk/rock/groove/soul and occasionally roots dub/reggae band based out of Madrid, Spain. Initially a solo, hip-hop inspired project by founding member Jason Hill (guitar, lead vocals, songwriter/producer/engineer), the band's sound quickly transformed into a more rock and funk oriented approach, and this past year has seen the project expand into it's current formation. Featuring Jalex Yestera on bass (and also contributing greatly to the newer compositions), Nicolas Martinez on drums, Miguel Verdaguer on the alto sax and harmonica, plus our latest addition, and Jesus Perez, on the electric piano and Hammond organ. International Criminal's sound is hard to describe in a good way, because it's unique and really doesn't sound like much else specifically, although the influences are fairly clear - Jason's singing is very Captain Beefheart/Tom Waits of course, while the band has clear Blues Explosion/Band of Gypsies made funky sound.
