A custom soundtrack for a sampling project by two graphic design students.
Jolijn Ceelen & Jorian Bekker, two graphic design students at ArtEZ Arnhem, present their latest project on sampling: 'VILLA FIASCO! The act of sampling'
For this project they’ve asked several artists to sample the same Vietnamese folk song.
To show that sampling is a very creative process and musicians can interpret sounds in diverse ways and produce vastly different end results.
The outcome is presented on a CD, with essays included, one of them by Jos de Mul.
To name a few contributors: Bootycall, Sun Glitters, Machinefabriek, Frans De Waard, Svarte Greiner, 7leaguebeats (Fakkelteitgroep), Jan van Dobbelsteen, Anstam (Radioheads' remix album King of Limbs)

Definitely flavors of Chaos Theory in there :D good stuff
@Indigolab: Yeah this one is quite set on immersive atmosphere :)
A very calculated unraveling tune, that takes an interesting journey from start to finish.
That soothing synth amidst the ambience creates quite an amazing soundscape. Love the creative use of reverb to pad out the track too.
@LeTryp: Yea exactly, I did a lot of those kindo of band-passed radio filtered things. But those EQ's kindo coloured the sound (percs) too much imo. That rim sticks out.
It's not crispy like other produtions, also mainly because lots of the sounds were derived from only 1 sound source manipulated into a whole arrange of things... which was hard to do, and harder to do right.
(Imagine 1 stick from vinyl being turned into your KickDrum, Snare AND Hi-Hat even)
@LeTryp: though i only say this cause of your comment. i didn`t notice in the past
@Inofaith:i could imagine raising the bassline a bit . and lowering the rimshot a notch but it`s just me.
I think I need to remaster this track badly... sounds so middy :S
