    Perfume

You don't smell like you used to
And there's a twinkle in your lie
    I could be simply confused
    But I don't know why
You called to say you're working late
Your dinner is in the stove
The kids are at the neighbor's house
    While I wait at home
I am left here thinking in an empty room
All I know it wasn't my perfume

You don't smile like you used to
I guess you don't think it shows
The way you talk about me
    Lets everybody know
That I just keep holding you back
What is it that you think you lack
I am left here thinking in an empty room
All I know it wasn't my perfume
All I know it wasn't my perfume

    Dark Side Of The Road
    on August 10, 2011 00:39

White lilies on the freeway and balloons fly on a pole
Hand painted sign saying, "May God rest your soul"
Maybe you can read it but I guess we'll never know
But you are not forgotten on the dark side of the road.

The crows pick up the ribbons, pecking at the bows
Hoping to make pretty nests of the offerings below
And though your spirit wanders beyond the bird's new home
A part of you will remain on the dark side of the road

The bushes still are broken but the grass has since re-grown
Faded tire marks linger from where your car was towed
Wild flowers started blooming where the melting snow has shown
A love for you still lives on the dark side of the road
