For over ten years, the creation of an OP CD has been an ongoing pursuit to discover fresh and eclectic sounds from around the world that capture the essence of our brand and reflects the Oliver Peoples retail experience. The stylish collections spotlight the extraordinary talents of creative artists from across the world and support the Oliver Peoples lifestyle philosophy: "Music and Style, Sound and Vision… songs from around the globe to keep your life in focus."
The 8th musical compilation by Oliver Peoples infuses the distinctive and recognizable lifestyle and culture of Malibu, California. Produced by Rudy Manheim and our trusted partners at Quango Music Group, this collection of handpicked musical gems recreate Malibu's fun summer vibe with contemporary and exclusive songs only available on Oliver Peoples 8. The opening song "Off to the Sun" by Berlin's Ian Pooley really sets the mood with its retro/pop/soul stylings. A similar feel continues throughout the album with contributions from Mayer Hawthorne, Shawn Lee, Bibio, Blundetto, and Diego Garcia, just to name a few. Among the mix is the dreamy "Space Philosophy," a worldwide exclusive from Bruno Guez's forthcoming album, and a previously unreleased remix of Ceci Bastida by Raul Campos of KCRW. Make sure you stay tuned for the hidden song by Genuine Childs with words of wisdom from the surfing legend Dorian "Doc" Paskowitz!
Due in large part to our long-term partnership with Quango Music Group, Oliver Peoples compilations are distinctive to the tastemakers of the world and respected in the same company as Hotel Costes, Café Del Mar and Buddha Bar. Responsible for exposing people to electro-lounge, world-infused rhythms and reggae for 20 years, we are grateful to enjoy an inspiring and enduring relationship with Quango, who will again serve as distributors of the CD.
The music of Oliver Peoples 8 offers the listener a sense of the quintessential Southern California experience: cruising along the Pacific Coast Highway, right next to the crashing surf of the blue Pacific, along rising bluffs beside rocky cliffs dotted with wildflowers. We are excited to invite the world to experience a piece of this Southern California paradise with the soulful sounds of our newest compilation. As you know, music is a key part of the Oliver Peoples DNA, so please present this latest edition with pride and care. We anticipate these to be in stock by the end of August 2011.
