About
With a dub saturated sound, solid track selection and a reputation for bringin' it proper, illoom has been pushing the limits of speakers and genres for years. With well over a decade behind the decks, James Loomis aka "illoom" has served as one of the pioneering figures in the Salt Lake City mutant bass arena. Founder of Liquid Dubwise, one of the longest running dubstep nights in North America, he keeps his city on the cutting edge of subwoofer culture. Despite a heavy rotation of residencies at Dubwise, Basscamp, and the Hive in SLC, Sidecar Subsessions in Park City, and Basscamp's Temple of Boom in Black Rock City, illoom always brings a fresh take on the music and new tunes every time.
illoom's sound is defined by high energy, sultry basslines, frequent references to Roots and Dub, and special attention to wigglin the ladies' waistlines. Ultra fast mixes and mash-up's see well over 30 tunes blended on the turntables in an hour, in a seamless progression that, well, makes perfect sense. An old school disciple of the proper role of a dj to the dance floor, the man is an active participant in the party, not a passive face staring at a computer screen.
Constantly moving his sound forward with his original productions in the studio, 2011 saw the release of the 5 tune ep "Passing Time Until Armeggedon" on SF based label Avocaudio, as well as a remix of Roommate "Locks Pon Mi Head feat Lutan Fiya", released on London's King Dubbist. Upcoming releases for 2012 include King Dubbist 004 to be released lat February, another ep on Avocaudio due out mid Summer, and a remix of "Stardust" for San Diego's Austin Speed.
illoom always packs ample vibrations of positive pressure to rattle the plaque off your bones.......a true 50 Hz Healer.
