    Haroon Mirza (born 1977, London) is a British artist, based in London and Sheffield. Mirza combines ready-made materials together with audio compositions to create site-specific
    installations. In doing so, Mirza complicates the distinctions between noise, sound and music, and alters the function and meaning of everyday objects. He is represented by Lisson Gallery, London.

    Current solo exhibitions include /\/\/\/\ /\/\ at University of Michigan Museum of Art, Michigan, \|\|\|\| \|\|\ at Kunst Halle Sankt Gallen, Switzerland, and current group exhibitions include Intense Proximity, La Triennale, Paris curated by Okwui Enwezor, On and After John Cage and Nam June Paik, Nam June Paik Center, Korea, and Sound Art: Sound as a Medium of Art, ZKM, Karlsruhe, Germany.

    Recent solo and group projects include a large-scale show /|/|/|/|/|/|/|/|/|/|/|/|/|/|/|/| at Spike Island, Bristol, I saw square triangle sine at Camden Art Centre, London, and a collaboration with James Richards and Ed Atkins in Times Square for the 11th Performa Biennial in New York (2011). Mirza's work was recently displayed at the 54th Venice Biennial, as well as in the British Art Show 7 (2011), and --{}{}{} {}--{}{}{}{}--{} was exhibited at Ernst Schering Foundation, Berlin (May 2012). Upcoming shows are /|/|/|/|/|/|/|/|/|/|/|/|/|/|/|/|, which will tour to Bonniers Konsthall, Sweden (2012), with another solo show in The Hepworth, Wakefield in 2013.

    Haroon Mirza was awarded the Silver Lion Award at the 54th Venice Biennale Illuminations (2011), and the Northern Art Prize (2010). He holds an MA in Fine Art from Chelsea College of Art and Design, and an MA in Critical Practice and Theory from Goldsmiths, University of London.
