From the album Inspired By Nature - Serenade in G ‘September’

This is one of my ‘compartmental’ pieces. Like the rooms in a house the composer wishes to take you on a little tour of moods.

I wanted to create that slightly melancholic ‘end of summer’ feel. So it opens with a sweet descending tune which inspires memories of the summer that has been and a little sadness that it is passing. Then on bar 18 we enter a reminiscent springlike refrain and the notes are rising again until they fall back into the main theme.

The use of 3rds perks us up before we arrive at bar 50 in the conservatoire with the September rain lightly dancing on the roof. We then wind down towards the finale which climbs again and ends on a positive note!
