this is a great hook and great scene!
also, maybe some pretty, sad and/or heartbreakingingly human musical moments and these would be like epic musical frescoes. like a punkier, more scummy dire straits or less snide, more raw street level elvis costello
that was awesome and on point. this is like a punk genesis, just form the clash around this, continue them along their distinct and original frameworks and texture them with other geniuses and you will be bigger than the violent femmes, i have little douybt.
@Sainte Croix: this could also use some steely rusty banjo work, maybe lap steel or hellish shrieking violins or a low sitting cello breakdown. maybve some eerie doubling female voice work too? would bring so much out of the tone with any of those.
it took me forever to land tone in a way ressembling the way you hit it naturally. you are blessed for not having had to go through my personal struggle to get this consistent.
super 16 horsepower here!! do you listen to them? your tone is preternatural. you are already leaps and beyond manson on his best day.
reminds me of the velvet underground, there isnt much higher praise than that.
this is great. like something from a wes anderson soundtrack.
harmonica is really sweet, nicely paced.
this is a beautiful and spacious song. very sad and still, makes me see boston in snowfalll
@The Focussed Distraction: Thanks for the music. You should think about posting your lyrics if it isn't too much trouble. I think itd be worthwhile as the are quite good and deserve a singular display so as to be accessed by those of us who love that part of songwriting as much as I do.
@Damokles: cannot wait to hear what else you've got. You are quite talented and your ear is impeccable. Passion cannot hide itself. Keep tha bells ringing!
@Damokles: yeah, overall there is little id change about this cut, but my reasons are largely personal and of course taste is always a factor. (this to say, it says and does exactly as i intended for better or worse.) about to go into the studio, however, to record my bands second album, which will be intentionally less cluttered, with more drive and heart. slightly poppy and compared to all work prior, rather understated, and therefore, in my way of seeing it lately, less desperate to impress and more resonant. my style is not one of insecurity however, though realize how and why it listens that way. it has more to do with the reason I got into guitar to begin with, to recreate the sound of a traditional Appalachian hammer dulcimer rhythm on a six string guitar, hence the cluttered, note heavy feel. It really gets the blood going for us irish folk, and that is the entire emotion of "New Beginnings" I was, simply put, in love. The music was meant to reflect that feeling and in that was quite precise from my vantage point. Thanks for you comment though, there isnt enough critical analysis on soundcloud and entirely too much dick sucking. A good, honest critic can be worth thousands of fans in my opinion and experience. Keep Listening! - iSc
funky as fuck and completely original. everyone in this room just lit up. my friend say, "oooh, that ones neat."
your awesome! do you have a record? tour?
@GELOW FOSTER: i really like that name. it is memorable and identifiable to every musician in human history.
@Ariad Music: well put
yes! harmonica is great here!
best song ive heard today. thank you! favorited :)
your guitar style makes me think of mine as cluttery and overstated.
if you know a cellist you could make this epic right around here.
hell yeah! i love the vocal loop and the tone is reminiscent of n.w.a. street level and sophisticated at the same time.
claptony! i love it! i typically find reggae dull, but this is sultry and filled with texture. add one female voice with character and it will sell no doubt. original and well execured.
I love the distinctly driving pulse that emerged aroud here.
I love the name of this song! so cool.
this i refreshing, like a less overtoned (brighter) four tet. was going to add that a low hitting vocal register would really suit it, ala the national or morphine, but then the track read my mind! well played! do you read palms?
I love the pounding downward rhythm cycle here. Really changes ad defines this part so distinctively. - isc
I like how the sounds are rising and falling ere to meet each other. Reminds me of John macglaughlin at time and a robert fripp. Fun listening ether way an very distinct from either or those, truly a one of a kind sound. - isc
Bends and breaks! The Essence of every musicians heart. I love how understated this song is, high competence, no grandstanding. That takes years of discipline
Love the accompanying photo. Very nice!
I like how the tempo is pretending to be unsure of itself here only to regain its sense of purpose with a completely different melodic statement in tow. You have an excellent ear and it shows - isc
I like the emerging jazzy element here. Give the song a new direction and dimension. As I it were unfolding. - isc
So many neat scAles and different cultural reminder, at times Celtic, Indian, Hungarian an even some Appalachian moments. Well played my friend.
Neat rhythm dissonance here and again great transition. If you are interested check out my "new beginnings" upload. It's guitar parts may intrigue you - isc
Was that a mid performance retune!? Whatever it was it sounded cool and was a perfect transition to this beautiful segment.
Already a fan. I see we both love us some stringed chaos
This song is simply heavenly. - isc
