Andy Buchan biography

Sheikh approved DJ* Andy Buchan, has been playing in Dubai for over 6 years and in that time played funk, soul, disco, nu-disco, hip hop, indie, indie-electro, breakbeat, speed garage and bassline, deep-tech-electro house and gabber sets (OK, the last one is made up).

Always straddling the line between cool and commercial, and with a treasure trove of unique and club-ready edits, he has carved out a hugely popular niche for himself in Dubai’s burgeoning club scene.

As the founder and resident DJ of See You Next Friday, he's been nominated as the city's best DJ by Time Out Dubai, while SYNF won the Best Alternative Night Award in 2011.

He currently holds down residencies at 360 and Trilogy - two of the best venues in the city - and has also held down regular spots at Alpha, Chi, The Apartment and the legendary iBO.

Alongside that, Andy runs the city's leading alternative night, Loaded, which offers a playlist that veers from 50s rock and roll to dubstep, and everything else in between.

Fatboy Slim, Beady Eye, Ian Brown, Pendulum, Calvin Harris, 2ManyDJs, Stanton Warriors, Sneaky Sound System, The Scratch Perverts, New Young Pony Club, Darren Emerson (Underworld), Tom Middleton, Andy Smith (Portishead), Ladytron, Cagedbaby, The Freestylers, The Glimmers, The Loose Cannons, Chicken Lips, The Freaks, Eric Kupper, Dabruck and Klein… and they all said he was the best warm up DJ playing that night.**

He's also DJ'd for several fashion brands including New Look, Giles Deacon, Adidas and Puma, and is currently one of a select few Adidas Ambassadors, representing the brand in the Middle East.

Andy also lives and breathes dance music. He launched DJ Magazine Middle East in 2009, regularly contributes to Esquire, Rolling Stone and Time Out in the Middle East, and has also written for Q Magazine, NME, DJ Magazine UK and Mixmag. He currently edits the long-running entertainment and nightlife guide, Infusion.
