Kid Smpl - Escape Pod EP

5 tracks, 21.03 Hush Hush Records on July 03, 2012 20:12

More sets by Hush Hush Records (2)

Kid Smpl – the alias of 22-year-old Seattle electronic producer Joey Butler – returns with the latest evolution in his signature take on atmospheric bass music with the brand-new Escape Pod EP. The four new tracks plunge listeners into a hypnotically cinematic world that pairs ghostly vocal samples with lush synths, immersive low-end tones, complex drumwork, and washed-out ambient textures. Rounding out the release is a cerebral, euphoric dancefloor remix from San Francisco’s D33J, a blossoming member of the Wedidit Collective. Escape Pod marks the inaugural release from Hush Hush Records, a new nocturnally-inclined label run by Alex Ruder, a longtime DJ and staff member at Seattle's KEXP. The EP also sets the stage for Kid Smpl's forthcoming debut LP, to be released on Hush Hush later this year.
