At the age of 5, Hungry Little Monkey was strumming ukulele, whistling on a plastic flute and salivating through a metallic red mouth organ. Highly embarrassed when her mother discovered her singing to birds at the age of 6, she progressed to playing with toy phones, and, as a teenager, began a brief dabble in guitar and bass, before eventually returning to focus on singing. Still highly embarrassed, even in her mid-twenties she was singing backwards to a friend in an awkward attempt to demonstrate her skills. This event segued into a drunken obsession with karaoke, which gave her the courage to try out for a band. Singing a little too gently in one boppy indie-pop band and a little too loud in one math-rock band, she kicked Goldilocks to the kerb, donned a pair of headphones and plugged into her computer. Here, in this world of virtual synths and damaged optical nerves, began the experimental adventures of Hungry Little Monkey and her electronic psycho-pop.
