Hugo Durán was born in Mexico City, 1975. Hugo starts his musical education as a bass player at the age of 11. Raised in a musician family, he s strongly influenced by jazz improvisation and afro caribbean rhythms. During his academical career he was bassplayer of several jazz projetcs.

Without leaving his instrumental formation he start to work with electronic devices such as analog synthesizers, samplers and effects but was until he bounce all that elements into a computer when he start his development as a composer.

He started to play live laptop with his long time nickname "kong" and transforming his sound to his actual blend; recently he left his nickname for use his real name, although he is still releasing tracks with that name with the berliner based label "eintakt".

Among the places where he has played his live are: Mutek Festival; Mexico City, Fusion Festival/Germany, Sonneweide Festival; Rostock/Germany, Festival Panoramico; Madrid/Spain, Experimenta; Madrid/Spain, Cassiopeia; Berlin/Germany, Bar 25; Berlin/Germany, Golden Pudel; Hamburg/Germany, La Rote Flora; Hamburg/Germany, Hafenklang; Hamburg/Germany, Inmission; Malmo/Sweden, Elektranisk Circus; Malmo/Sweden etc.

Actually is working on projects that include music for films, to run his own label; “neptune” with Akiko Kiyama as partner and unleash his tracks.

Alongside his techno work he develops another project that is a mix of electronic music and tropical music called "kongatron".
