Emerging from Lidget Green, UK - an otherwise ignored enclave of Bradford scarred by the demise of industry and robbed of its working-class pulse thanks to “progress” - 30 year old producer, Dean Bentley aka Hourglass Sea is a multi-instrumentalist with a knack for complex rhythms and melody.

Playing with ideas on tempo and structure, elegantly posturing from genre to genre, but making no apology for crowbarred samples or soaring sun-kissed guitar-licks, the result is a beguiling mix of samples, synths, guitars and weirdness.

Bentley’s ‘maximalist’ approach to everything he chooses to create hasn’t gone unnoticed. 2011/12 tracks 'LA Concorde', ‘Another World’ and ‘Once In A Lifetime’ made their mark on Radio 1, 6 Music and 1Xtra with plays from Mista Jam, Huw Stephens and Tom Robinson. His releases have scored him frequent exposure from online tastemakers, including Line of Best Fit, Mad Decent and Dipped in and Dollars, live bookings have seen him play alongside Ghost Poet, Dels, Is Tropical as well as appearing on the bill for Roundhouse Rising Festival, and noteworthy producer fans rating him highly include the established maximalist luminary, Bobby Tank.
