About

Beginning in the dorm room of Grant McCracken, circa 2006, HP started like so many other pop/punk bands of recent… covering Blink-182 songs (see: All Time Low, Panic! At the Disco, others). Soon, covers were replaced with original material, and horrible sound quality was replaced by an obsessive desire for constantly improving recording techniques. In late 2008 Grant decided he had enough material to make a full length album and proceeded to self-record HP’s debut LP, titled: Everything You Ever Wanted. The album was released early 2009 for free via bittorrent and direct download. The album was reviewed/ featured on miscellaneous blogs, landed HP a some local shows, and eventually led to a segment on Fresno’s local rock radio station, 104.1. In late 2009, Grant went back to work and self-recorded the Seven Minutes EP; a more pop-oriented digression from previous work - with the intent to appeal to a larger mainstream audience. The EP was released early 2010 and landed Hopeless Passion a wider selection of local (and a few not so local) shows, a live spot on the largest TV morning show in the Fresno area, and the support of newfound fans. Given the positive reception from Hopeless Passion’s TV appearance, Grant decided to more actively pursue a future in music and subsequently moved to the musical hotbed of Austin, Texas in late 2010. After recording an acoustic album and playing as a solo act in Austin, Grant decided that being an acoustic act wasn’t true to his desires and set out to record a more ambitious, rock oriented album. To do this, he worked obscene amounts of overtime, sold his soul, quit his job, and moved up to Seattle - where he spent the next four months recording an album that defied genres and expectations. Half a year later, you now have the culmination of one man’s soul in your hands. Thousands of dollars, hundreds of hours, and it all comes down to a little over fifty-seven minutes. Enjoy.
