Vernon & DaCosta provide the third instalment for their recently launched label Homecoming Music – a label which has quickly grabbed the attention of key players including Sneak, Moodymanc, Danny Tenaglia, Fish Go Deep and Inland Knights. 'Northern Light' is a deep house track featuring the vocal talents of Sanja and is a little something for the more soulful heads out there. It comes in four different versions and features remixes from some of today’s big hitters across the house spectrum in the shape of Phil Weeks and Andre Crom & Luca Doobie.
Sitting somewhere between the new school of Chicago and the golden era of the west coast sound, Vernon & DaCosta’s roots mix gives DJs and listeners the time to kick back and enjoy some classic deep house chords underpinned by a warm flowing bassline and topped with Sanja’s soulful vocal.
Vernon’s remix is a more upfront continental affair with a looped up sample of the vocal, lots of disassociated percussive elements essential for any late night madness, and a nice hypnotic groove.
Robsoul’s Phil Weeks serves up a peaktime Chicago banger, complete with clap rolls, a rolling funk sample, and some clever cut up vocal work. All you jackers out there: get ready for this hot bit of heads down, tight and funky action.
The last remix comes from Berlin courtesy of Off Recordings head honcho Andre Crom and his partner Luca Doobie, bringing us an up to date bit of bumping German funk.
