"Dazzla (born Matthew Michael) is a dj and warm embracer of the raw/leftfield/beardo/weirdo/deeper/dirtier side of the dance music spectrum.

Years of record collecting, dancing until dawn, and working for peanuts in record stores all came to a head in 2008 with his first underground disco night "Dos Tres 2" (produced with hometown hero Barry Weaver) and the birth of the beloved and highly successful MOONSHAKE party.

Proudly proclaiming "LIGHTS HEAT STROBE SWEAT", Moonshake was a twice-monthly hot mess featuring spacey house, techey grooves, and cosmic disco as supplied by Dazzla and resident-djs-in-crime Mark Quark and Lee Reynolds. Thrown in infamous SD punk dive Kadan with brought-in Turbosound and visuals, Moonshake quickly became a magnet for dancers looking for a raw, heady, no-nonsense dance party. Dedicated dancers would come from near and far to be part of partay, and as the crowd grew so did Dazzla's DJ skill and collection of spaced out disco, house, techno, and rock records -- whatever moves feet, feels real and works in the heat of the dancefloor is fair game for his sets.

With the recent closure of Kadan and the subsequent homelessness of Moonshake, Dazzla is focusing his energies on touring and production, working on a tentatively-titled project "MULES" with partner Lord Nelson of Julian. DJ travels have taken him as far as Mexico City with frequent stops in Tijuana and Ensenada, both as part of the Moonshake collective as well as solo-dancefloor-rocking experiences. He has opened for such DJs such as Holy Ghost!, DJ Kaos, Conor, Phil Mison, and Felix Dickinson, and has a mid-2013 release date for his upcoming production collaboration.
