This is really pretty nice - there's enough going on that you don't get too bored. I could see some kind of lead texture over it also. Something high-pitched, staccato, static-y.
@Alex: It's actually a handrail that I'm knocking on as I walk down some stairs into the subway. As it goes on, you can hear the space changing from a city street to a subway station - an effect I found pretty pleasing!
