Home to Funkanala, Motivators, Chanan Hanspal, Stick Manoeuvres and also releasing tracks by Yam Who?, Chaz Jankel, DJD, Angie Brown and more.

Motivators are the Manu Dibango rhythm section plus member of the Quantic Soul Orchestra and Reel People.

Funkanala had their debut 12 licensed to Defected Records and received dj support from Carl Craig, Stacey Pullen, Mr Scruff, Danny Krivit, Shuya Okino from Kyoto Jazz Massive, Dom Servini from Wah Wah 45s, Gilles Peterson.

Chanan Hanspal, Here And Now Recordings latest signing, has recorded a soul jazz project featuring Imaani from Incognito and many fine string and brass players that 4Hero use. Plus Debbie French who records with Joey Negro!

Yam Who? have remixed Joss Stone, John Legend, Grace Jones and have recorded many great tunes for various outlets including Ubiquity and Papa Records alongside Osunlade, Dj Spinna, Kirk Degiorgio (As One)

DJD has recorded over 50 tracks for numerous labels including Defected Records, Strictly Rhythm and Zoom. For Here And Now Recordings he has written, arranged and produced, alongside DJD and Angie Brown "Into The Night" a fantastic hands-in-the-air vocal house track plus the jazzy hip hop instrumentals "Dusk" and "Dawn".

Angie Brown has sung on many amazing UK house records but had near chart topping success hitting the number 2 slot with Bizzare Inc "I'm Gonna Get You". Since then she has featured on recordings of Fatboy Slim, Lisa Stansfield, Copyright and has sung backing vocals for the likes of Chaka Khan, Neneh Cherry, Grace Jones, The Rolling Stones and many many more!

Chaz Jankel was the co-writer with Ian Dury And The Blockheads. He composed many of their chart successes including "Hit Me WIth Your Rhythm Stick", "Sex And Drugs And Rock And Roll", "Reasons To Be Cheerful" (what a tune!) and then solo penned "Ai No Corrida" which Quincy Jones, producer of Michael Jackson albums "Off The Wall" and "Thriller" (the biggest selling album of all time!!), cobered making it a worldwide smash hit. This year Chaz has merely been writing with Robbie Williams!

Stick Manoeuvres

Stick Manoeuvres are a Nottingham based funk and jazz outfit formed by Dave Stickman Higgins drummer of Kalima who were on the Manchester super label Factory Records the same record company that gave us Joy Division, New Order, The Happy Mondays and A Certain Ratio. The legendary post punk band A Certain Ratio (ACR) included Martin Moscrop (guitar and trumpet) the longest serving member who would later form Swamp Children with saxophonist Anthony Quigley and then Kalima. Other member of A Certain Ratio became, Quando Quango, T-Coy and Swing Out Sister. Kalima recruited Dave Higgins on drums in the mid to late 1980s. In his Hacienda days Dave Higgins, signed to Faatory Records playing for Kalima toured ineternationally alongside Arturo Sandoval, Style Council, James Taylor Quartet, Happy Mondays, Robin Jones and many more. He recalls the JBs turning up once Sunday Afternoon at Dingwalls to be featured with Kalima.

Dave Higgins is also an actor and performance poet. And in the 1990s would work on numerous occasions, at Ronnie Scoots and at Sounds Of Brazil (New York) with Flora Purim and Airto who commented "Stickman you have great energy".

More recently he has worked with labels Acid Jazz and Tim Love Lee of Tummy Tuch Records.
