About
Hector Lee is a sound designer, electronic musician, and composer. Working with a wide genre of music, his experience has spanned from music composition, production, to crafting sound art installations. In the recording studio, he is also a recording engineer and producer with strong production skills. Working with various artists to capture the sound that they want, he has experience working with numerous styles from traditional gamelan and rock guitars to mechanical drum machines.
Currently completing his degree in Music Technology at LASALLE College of the Arts, his field of music spans a wide genre from pop production to experimental electronic music. A musician by nature, he is both a performer and composer with a keen interest in contemporary electronic music and unique composition techniques such as micro sound composition. He constantly pushes the boundaries of his work by integrating the use of technology such as multichannel audio and computer synthesis.
He actively engages in collaborations with artists from other disciplines to expand the possibilities and creative boundaries of his work. His work and collaborations have a spanned a wide range including theatre, live electronic music, dance, music composition, interactive sound art installations, etc.
In 2011, his collaboration project, Circuito, won LASALLE's Collaborative Award. He was also commissioned to compose a piece for the Peranakan Museum and LASALLE, fusing electronic music with the traditional gamelan. His recent works include theatre production Eurydice(2010), fashion event Vaunt(2010), Reflex(2010), a sound art installation for AUDI with media artist Andreas Schlegal and sound artist Brian O'Reilly, and many other live electronic music performances.
