A rough demo from the forthcoming new album. You know, to keep you up to date with where I'm headed.

For a long time, I've had this vague, decidedly unscientific idea, that certain places cling on to the 'feelings'/'emotional energy' discharged over periods of time. I.e. That the people spending time there, and their activity and behaviour, leaves an indelible mark. 'Ghosts', if you want to call it that. I'm sure it's purely psychological, but I think almost every culture entertains the belief, in some form or another, that human activity gives character to a place, which outlasts the inhabitants. Surely strong emotion, like passion or depression, or a powerful occurrence like death, can be detected in some subtle way long after the event? I don't know.

Anyway, that's kind of this song. I wrote it to sound slightly childlike, but not as a 'child's song'. It needs plenty of work - I'm still working on a decent marimba part, and maybe the rhythm will evolve, but this is the song in its basic form.

@Michael Zaneski: Thanks so much Michael, I really appreciate your comments. To be honest, the title was kind of inspired by the Talking Heads track ("Home, it's where I want to be..."). I'm still trying to work out the instrumentation... Fairly happy with the marimbas, but trying to work out what else to add or take out...

Your lyrics stand alone as things of beauty, and with this music, it's just exquisite. Your vocals are crisp and clear, and mixed perfectly. I confess I misread the title at first, and thought this was going to be a Talking Heads cover (aka Naive Melody)..I was very happily, upon listening, wrong.
