BIO:
Bryan Mattson aka Harbou has always taken a great intrest in music from a very young age. His first musical endeavors were with bands in middle school/high school playing guitar. He soon became very frustrated with the compromise that comes with working within a band. After several years of this, he took a break from music, and went on hiatus. After attending the Detroit Electronic Music Festival in 2009 his musical aspirations were refreshed and he started give this new music/culture more attention than ever before. It wash't until early 2010 after watching Woody McBride play an all vinyl acid house set at the Leland, that he could no longer ignore his desire to buy his own turntables and start learning the craft. Bryan was fortunate enough to have made friends during his time going to parties in detroit, that were willing to share their knowledge and experience about this new passion, and was able to catch the basics in a short amount of time, and was soon finding himself spending nearly all of his free time playing records.
In mid 2011, after playing records for a year and and half, his interest in music production drove him to buy a copy of Ableton and start learning the basics of music production. During this time, he was also given his first opportunity to play out at a club, where he played an opening set at the Works in Detroit, the same night as Clint Stewart (Safeword), this was a monumental achievement for him, and has been playing shows in the Metro Detroit area ever since. He has played at such venues as The Grasshopper Underground, The Works, The Tangent Gallery/Hastings Street Ballroom, The Token Lounge, and The Roche Bar in Port Huron. He is a founding member of Massive Detroit Records, a resident DJ for the successful Sanctum.fm radio show, and has worked with many promoters in the Detroit Area. Harbou's sound bridges the gap between deep house and minimal techno. With several releases in the works, be sure to keep an eye out for this emerging young artist.
