BIO
Growing up in a small town has its advantages, if you don’t feel like fitting in you have to go out and find your own way of doing things, and as you find them by yourself, you can combine stuff in ways that people with more influence probably wouldn’t have done.
No one exemplifies this better than Hans Berg, even though it’s been a long time since he left his birthplace for the bright lights of the big city, he still doesn’t see the point of constricting himself to any specific sound or style.
This leads to Hans Berg’s productions having a sound all to themselves, with Hans being inspired by a wide spectrum of alternative music, from his youth spent drumming in punk bands and experimenting with synthesizers (mimicking the slow-down speed-up break of Lil Louis’ French Kiss), to going raving and producing his own techno tracks.
Now living in Berlin, Hans Berg, has started collaborating with Swedish video artist Nathalie Djurberg, where Hans makes the music for her video art. Their collaboration has led them to show their work around the world in well known museums and art spaces, most notably the Venice Biennale 2009, where Hans made an experimental six channel surround system soundtrack for their installation, for which they received the prestigious Silver Lion Award.
Now, with more than a decade of music production under his belt, it’s time for Hans Berg to make his presence felt, and it’s time for you to get involved too, dance to his music, and don’t miss out if you ever get the chance to hear what he can do with it live, bringing an extra dimension to the music in the interaction with the audience.
Hans is working with the Swedish label Kant Recordings and British label Fullbarr Digital, releasing both digital and vinyl.
