Hannah Dilkes is a composition student at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music in London, studying with Stephen Montague, Ed Jessen, Andrew Poppy, and Duncan MacLeod.
Her music has been performed by The Aurora Orchestra, the Britten Sinfonia, Oliver Coates, The Smith Quartet, Saxofonquadrat of Berlin, The Benyounes Quartet, SCYO and the Alton College Composers Ensemble.
In 2012 Hannah was fortunate enough to become one of the ten shortlisted Britten Sinfonia OPUS2013 composers and got to work closely with the ensemble in the later part of the year.
In 2011 she won the BBC Young Composer of the Year competition with her suite for large ensemble 'Two Nonsenses', which was broadcast on BBC Radio 3 by members of the Aurora Orchestra.
Hannah recently worked alongside the Aurora Orchestra as part of their 'New Moves' season, which the Times reviewed '[Echoes Through Sunken Forests is] beautiful, elegiac and folk-like'.
As a trombonist, Hannah has played alongside the likes of the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Nicholas Collon, Thomas Gould, Kenny Wheeler, Polar Bear, John Taylor, Christian Jones and Graham Lee in a range of styles from free jazz to Balkan to Mozart. She is a member of the Op Sa! Balkan Band.
