About
Sip on a track from Boston's Gys (AKA Todd Gys), lick your lips, and taste the delicate influences of Detroit techno, ambient drones, roots dub, and the hazy sound of Basic Channel. Gys assembles and sculpts these all into a ubiquitous sound that drifts to the end of the
spectrum and back again. Whether you're shaking your ass to his driving rhythms, or sitting zoned on your couch getting lost in the washed out hiss of his Space Echo gone nuts, you're sure to get your fill.

@monkeynaut: You're guess is as good as mine! =] This whole track was made by sampling single quarter notes on the fly of the drum machine and synths set at weird time sigs!
Really nice!
Love the compression on the drums. Reminds me a bit of Art of Noise.
Really nice sound. Was all the synth work done in one go on your modular or was it multitracked?
@Anders Bergdahl: Thanks for checking it out!
Love that melody.
Love the growl.
@dubathonic: Yeah, I have a scene that nudges one of the sample start times to hit on the snare-like sound (along with some HPF). It's going to fun expanding on that idea because I have a ton of short quirky field samples like that!
You've grown a lot with your modular...your latest stuff is really interesting. Still out there but with more focus.
Mental for sure...I like the mixing job between the beats and synth work too. Nice work, Andy!
Ohhhhhh shiiiiiiiit.
I miss techno like this. Love the blips and weird ass Black Nation stabs.
Sick.
Really nice section right here.
@Amanita_X: Thanks for listening.
@keepalive: Thanks man. You can get some cool ones out of the machinedrum...especially when you layer a couple.
@Impulse Array: Thanks for checkin' it!
Very cool!
Really nice atmosphere. Well done.
Beyond NASTY!
Funky as all get out.
Best song ever, IMO.
Awesome, Nils. I'm a sucker for this sound!
@Siesta Submarina: MD, indeed, though the whole mix is going through the Overstayer Compressor....it does wonders!
Nice vibe to this track.
@m50: Ha ha ha ha...always a critic. =] Can't you just relish in some crackle for a bit?
What a timeless sound. Takes me back. =]
Seriously amazing mix, Snobo. Great vid as well...mind blowing all around!
@dubathonic: Thanks for the comments!
Fantastic. You've produced the best MnM drums I've ever heard.
Fantastic mix. Love the acid traxx!
@brendonmoeller: Thanks for checking it. Loving your latest echologist tracks as well.
@chakaharta: Yo! I recorded to Reaper and then quickly post-processed with T-Racks just to add some compression and get the levels up a bit. Thanks for listening!
@highsage: Yo! The detroit chords are from the Waldorf Microwave I, fed into a Sherman Filterbank II. So hard to tame the Filterbank, but I've got a good patch going on it for this track. =] Thanks for listening!
@earsmack: What were you jamming with? I'd be curious to hear your live noodling over a minimal jam like this.
This is very cool. Nice job!
@R. Audiard: Yo! Thanks for listening. =] No real plans yet. I'll probably do another track in a similar vein. Interested in remixing?
@Emtex&Nafeo/ TheTapeHeadz: I'd be open for remixes for sure. Once it's wrapped up I'll package up a sys ex if you're interested!
@Emtex&Nafeo/ TheTapeHeadz: Yeah, the p-i BD is doing that bassline and the high perc sound. Such a versatile machine!
@Emtex&Nafeo/ TheTapeHeadz: Thanks for the comments! I use an original space echo (301).
