I was thinking about a song that would utilize the microtonality's potential and yet still remain in a broadly defined pop territory. I decided to keep the usual tempered scale and just shift it by a quarter tone at specific moments. My goal was to make it sound as natural as possible. But trust me, it is microtonal. Try to improvise to this if you don't believe me. ;)

I was listening to a lot of classical and contemporary music recently and that's where the overall sound of the song came from. I wanted to grasp the waving ocean-like wall-of-sound quality you usually get from the symphonic orchestra and put it into a heavier context.

Not much of the guitar in this one but you can hear some licks, riffs and tapping here and there. I used whammy, slide and post production techniques to get the microtons.

I'd love to hear your opinion on this.

PS. (2012-07-04): I uploaded new version of the track with some colored noises and guitar seagull sounds added. There's a great deal of new mood in this song now. :)
