This is my first song about / written in Hanoi... This recording is just a quick one-track recording done on my crappy laptop with a $5 mic in the living room of my apartment in Hanoi, so the sound isn't super great... I might get to record it proper one day...

WAITER AT HAPRO

Verse 1:

This song's 'bout a restaurant. It's called Hapro - and to be perfectly precise -
I'm talking Hapro Bốn Mùa on Lê Thái Tổ - you may know the one -
This is not about the food - it was OK -
This is not about the decor - it was OK -
The AC was mighty fine - it was OK -
And this is not even about the price - it was OK -
No, no, no, no, no, no...
This song's 'bout the

Chorus:

Waiter at Hapro. Why oh why?
Why did you hate me so?
Waiter at Hapro. My oh my!
What did I do to make you hate me so...?

Verse 2:

I was hardly through the door and I felt it straight away;
I was a bother, I was in your way.
I could have stood there for a century
But through gentle perseverance
I sort of made you lead me
Like an awkward dance performance.
I said “cám ơn”.
And I sat and I waited - patiently -
I waited and I waited - patiently -
I smiled while I waited - patiently -
I was struggling to find things to do - patiently -
I tried to ask for a “menu” - patiently -
I cleaned my hands with the pre-packaged fresh towel - patiently -
I didn't care if it turned out to be not at all - complementary -
Where the hell did you go? “What's going on?”

Chorus

Bridge:

Maybe we'll meet again under a blue sky or in the shade of a tree.
I could become your friend; I'm a nice guy, it has been known about me.
I'll say: “Xin chào anh! Bạn đi đâu đâý?” And everything'll be fine in the blink of an eye...
I know I'm dreaming and so I'll keep on wondering...
Wondering...

Chorus Chorus Chorus...
