Hi. If I submitted a track this week and I can see that it wasn't listened to (zero plays), should I re-submit next week or will it automatically go into the next week's listening pile? Thanks!
@My Electric Sky: the team of moderators listen to everything that comes in between Monday and Thursday and pick the 2 or 3 that they absolutely fall in love with (see below for full process). Between now and Thursday you'll hopefully see this public list slowly fill up, and on Friday it'll become our Listening Post selection for that week. The one track already approved is there because it caught somebody's fancy bigtime as soon as it came in - in this particular case, me :-)
Ok sharing 'Drum Beats For Sunday' this week, we're off to las Vegas for a bit of Nascar & R&R so if we win it big we'll probably splash it all on fast cars and a flashy video!
LISTENING POST/FRESH FAVES Here's how the system works. The dropbox is cleared every Monday around lunchtime and then opened for business. Anyone can send us one track, any Monday to Thursday, and our team of moderators will listen to every single track that comes in. So if you send a track here you can be sure that several people will listen to it, including me.
We generally get between 100 and 150 tracks sent in every week, most of which are pretty good. But there's only room on our listening post for 30 - the maximum number we can reasonably expect the public to check out.
It would be impossible to go through deciding which tracks aren't "good enough" because most of them are. So instead, we have roughly 10 active moderators on duty each week, and each of them is only allowed to approve their 3 favourite tunes. That way this group ends up with 30 approved tunes that will be heard publicly on the Listening Post. Every one of them will have been absolutely adored by somebody in the team. Over the weekend our readers and moderators then listen to all 30 tracks and post their five favourites in the comments section. We add up the votes and publish the 10 most popular tracks as our Fresh Faves every Monday around lunchtime. Then we clear the dropbox and start all over again
RADIO PLAY Separately from the above, I also check through everything that is submitted here, regardless of whether it gets approved for the blog, to find tracks for my BBC Introducing Mixtape. There's only room for a dozen new tracks per mixtape, so again I can only include my own absolute favourites from each week's batch. Those personal picks aren't neccessarily "the best" tunes in the pile or the ones "most likely to become successful". They're just the tracks that - for me - jump out of the speakers as different, fresh, special, original.
Sometimes these tracks haven't been uploaded to BBC Introducing and can't be included in the mixtape. Sometimes they turn out to be other people's favourites too, and become Fresh Faves on the blog. But it doesn't work the other way round: becoming a Fresh Fave won't make a track into one of my personal favourites, or get it airplay on the Mixtape.
Obviously we get sent far too much music to give individual feedback. But if you send your very best track here while the dropbox is open it WILL get heard by our team and by me, regardless of whether it gets "approved" in this group. And if I like it, I'll play it - simple as that.
After we've added a song to the DropBox, if we get lucky, will someone accept it into the group and does someone notify us if they like it or not? Cheers x

Track is uploaded... How come there is one track already approved? I'm new to all this :)
Surprise, a band formed by people of Costa Rica and the United Kingdom. Can anything good come from this?

A track in moderation means that it hasn't been approved by the moderators yet,it takes a couple of votes I believe.
