Teenage DJ aka Greg Wilson ‘Good To Me’
Never previously shared.
I’ve uploaded this to coincide with the unveiling of ‘Confessions Of A Teenage DJ’ today on Coldcut’s Solid Steel radio show, which is currently celebrating its 25th Anniversary with a series of mixes from artists and DJ’s they feel have had a significant presence at some point during the last 25 years, myself, I’m happy to say, included. ‘Confessions Of A Teenage DJ’ is my contribution – you can read more on the blog, where it’s available to stream / download:
‘Good To Me’, which features on ‘Confessions’, is one of the more dance orientated inclusions. The original working title I gave it was ‘Machine’ because I’d built it around a loop from ‘Machine Gun’ by The Commodores. The main vocal hooks are from 2 tracks from back in the early 80’s, Jeanette ‘Lady Day’s ‘Come Let Me Love You’ (‘ain’t nobody love you like I do’) and Marvin Gaye’s ‘Sexual Healing’ (‘well it's good for me and it's so good to me’).
This is one of a trio of Teenage DJ tracks that never made it onto vinyl, but which featured in my ‘First Time In NYC @ APT’ mix, from back in 2005 (along with a trio that did):
