Un-classically trained musician with a love for all things progressive that started way back as a rave kid in 1991. Have been dj'ing since 94 and experimenting with production since 98. Ran the now defunct Stellar Records label from 2000-2004.
All of my tracks are available for remix and/or exploration via an ableton live pack (assuming I still have the source files!). If you have any interest in messing around with one of my songs email me and I will send you a link to an ableton live pack.
Brilliant.
One of my favorite progressive breaks tracks of all time. No lyrics yet such a powerful tune. Amazing stuff Duane!!!
@Floridaxtc: Yet another Sasha remix this time of D:ream "You're the best thing" an absolute classic.
@Floridaxtc: Tony Di Bart "The real thing" ... probably the most recognizable bassline from the early 90's.
@Floridaxtc: One of the many classic Sasha remixes from back in the day.
I took Derek's opening lines at the beginning of this set and turned them into a track. I couldn't resist. :) I also lifted a few samples out of this mix. Check it here:
Grade E - How Many People Out There Are ... [Right On Mix]
@Duane Barry: One of my favorite tracks of the last year. Awesome stuff Duane! Looking forward to your future releases.
Can you make this downloadable?
@Dj Shrapnl: Me too Shrapnl! ProgressiveBreaks FTW!
@kremjarinn: It's remix of a song called "Swing 2 Harmony" but a group called Perasma. The remix is by Gabriel and Dresden.
@davegluskin: Interesting... then it's definitely not the Cafe Del Mar I was thinking of that came out on Hooj Choons several years later.
@user3804408: This is not Cafe Del Mar. Not sure what it is, but it's not Cafe Del Mar.
Duane - I'm a big fan of your stuff. Another solid release mate. Will definitely support.
The famous "red alert" siren straight out of the original star trek. :)
@ablekid: Yeah...I was never a big dnb fan but its' grown on me over the years, especially the more progressive/trancey sounding genres like liquid. Thanks for listening.
You'll definitely see me at the reunion. Can't wait for Wednesday where it all began. :)
@ablekid: that's what it's all about.
Nice catchy melody, harmony and bassline in dare I say a sweet harmony. Has a bit of an Andy Moor sound to it, which is big compliment.
Really like that edit.
Yo - really good track mate. You're stuff keeps getting better and better. Let me know if you ever want a progressive breaks remix of any of your stuff. :)
I do. I've got one that I just posted but it my get released with a series.. so just waiting to hear back on that. Thanks for checking this one. I really love this set.
Rock solid piece of drum and bass my fried. Really digging this.
Central Fire "This is a shout going out" ... good tune.
one of the first records I ever bought.. I think it was called something like The Farmer "Get out of that field"
MORE PLEEEAASSEEE!
"A1 One Love" Bassbin Twins.. yet another huge track. Sounds so good on loud speakers. You can get lost in it.
Love the 303 here..sooo retro! :)
ok, well this was another huge track for the abyss. Love "open up" that rezy bassline is so epic.
THE Abyss Anthem if there ever was one. Well this and maybe Toni Di Bart's "Real Thing" ..both would set the place off.
Btw if you have more Abyss sets, please post them!!
WOW! Derek - Thank you so much for posting this. Thanksgroovin 93 went down as one of the best clubs nights of my life. To actually have the set from that night is f-ing amazing. Long live the sounds of the Abyss!! Will be jamming this for a long time to come.
Awesome man.. thanks for sharing. Don't recognize this mix, but this is a solid set. I'm interested in finding out who the dj is. 92 was a good year my friend. Peace.
great song.. such a classic. Hammered all over Orlando back in the day.
Track ID? I want kimball to play this at the reunion. I have this on vinyl but am too lazy to go look it up. :)
Like that additional reggae sounding vocal you're throwin on top of here.. nice.
Love to hear that kerednayr - Hope to post another mix soon. Appreciate the listen and comments.
Love the drum programming in here. Tough and funky.
Thanks Quintos.... Hard to believe it's 10 years old already!
Thanks Quintos... glad you enjoyed it.
I will have to dig through my records sometime to put the full tracklist up I don't know all the track names by heart sadly. I know them by how their record sleeve looks! :)
