About
Melbourne resident Rob Healey AKA Ghostsoul is a song writer who's musical style lends itself to the abstract. Predominantly an abstract hip hop and glitch hop writer the artists style of song writing is as diverse as the influences that have inspired him. These influences can be heard in the flavours of dub, classical and soul music that sneak their way into each composition.
After a number of years DJ'ing in venues around Australia, a journey that lead him to his home in Melbourne, Ghostsoul decided to break away from the breaks scene and change gears. During this time he dedicated himself to focus on production and to create a truly rich back catalogue of sounds and music that can be mashed morphed and moved together to create all the pieces of his live performances that combine heavy flowing melodies, deep bass and smashing rhythms.
In 2010 he was invited to join the Ghetto Arts crew. This saw him support the likes of RAS G (USA) and The phonies (Sydney) and also begin performing his live set alongside The High Society, Men Imitating Machines, DJ sizzle and Digital Assassin at events throughout Melbourne and begin to collaborate with members of the crew and also musicians who's open minds and style would compliment his own. His first independent release Broken Symmetry reflects on this featuring high society's MC Dyzlexic, the release is getting ready to drop in early 2011 and is a 5 track work of glitched out beats and dub out hip hop.
With all of this in mind he is currently moving a direction outside of the mainstream of both hip hop and dance music with a mind focussed on creating ever more mind bending compositions and music that travels through the singularity of the human mind and body.
Peace.
