    Thank you for your comments. The sixth form are the hope of the future. Literature is, I think, actually a very hard concept. It is an abstraction of something that needs to be experienced at gut level. Poems and stories and novels and plays are the concrete embodiments of 'literature'. Good luck, and don't lose hope yourself.

    I enjoyed the reflective piece of the courtyard sketches in a lowish moment of my teacher's day when I thought, not for the first time, that reading and words were eluding the minds of the new 6th form students, who queued to enter courses in IT rather than Literature. Sigh
