In 2004, Stacy and I were preparing to be parents. I had started a new job, and we were just starting to get over the reality of the rest of our lives, when tragedy struck. Stacy went into preterm labor. When I heard the news, I went home quickly to grab some of her things, then met her at the hospital. She had already been given an injection to slow the progress of the labor for at least one day. In an effort to ease the tension, I brought The Beatles Anthology, which I had owned on VHS. Every tape began with a montage of Beatles photos and video footage, set to the tune of "In My Life". Well, needless to say, it fit. And when I isolated the vocal track from the song, I decided to put my own little spin on it. Even though the story of Andrew ended in more sadness (the track "Embrace" sums it up perfectly), I really felt like this would also speak for how I felt about my music, and how every little thing I've collected has followed me around.
