A group of motivated young journalists in Paarl, South Africa, meet every year with graduate students from the University of Southern California to discuss and produce multimedia journalism. The workshop is led by Koinonia (http://www.koinonia.org.za/) a community organization under the guidance of Eddie Williams.
This year, the group's final product is a half-hour radio piece on the subject of Paarl's unique musical existence. The workshop participants divided themselves into three groups, each tackling one sector of the region's diverse population of musicians, producers, performers and fans.
Reported and edited in less than 24 hours, the final piece was aired on Radio KC, 107.7 fm with in-studio commentary and a description of the project provided by the youth journalists.
