About
Gavana (Anna Gavanas) produces and composes dubstep/dub/techno and has released her music on the labels Clubstream, Aromamusic, Meerkat Recordings and Cybersymphonic. She has also remixed the music of her brother Christos Gavanas as well as UK artist Caro Snatch (remix compilation due January 2012).
Gavana produces out of a musical background as a vinyl DJ and has played at clubs and festivals in Sweden, the UK, the US and Germany since the late 1990s.
Together with the fellow producer Aimnbreak Gavana is also owner of the record label Meerkat Recordings, member of the producer duo Bass Trolls as well as the former DJplaneten.
In addition, as a writer and public figure (as well as PhD and Associate Professor of Social Anthropology and Gender Studies), Anna Gavanas has published books and articles on electronic music culture and has been guest editor and contributor at Dancecult, the international journal of electronic dance music. She is currently co-editing an anthology on DJ culture with Ben Attias and Hillegonda Rietveld.
