The project Garoa Fina (a São Paulo's slang to talk about the winter drizzle), developed and carried by the musical producer Arievilo Leirbag (a.k.a. Gabriel Oliveira) in December of 2008, brings a result of an entire life of research in the area of "shake-your-body-songs". After much time hearing and analyzing material, work with this knowledge was necessary. The result is a great mixture of grooves with a recipe that includes jazz, funk, soul, samba, afrobeat, house, disco, latin beats, hip hop and dub. All of it is involved by a soulful atmosphere that make a direct reference to the vintage and the modern, the old the the new, at the same time.
Garoa Fina is also a filter that instantaneously transforms past into future through remixies and re-edits. A delicious meal for those who is not contented in step the feet in only one rhythm, to tress the legs in only one beat, to shake the hips in an only vibration or to listen to a unison symphony. Beyond the flavorful mixture, Garoa Fina also provides for the listeners an very peculiar experience, since Arievilo signs all the posts of the production, being executor of all the instruments, author of all the compositions and arrangements and responsible for the post-production of the tracks, showing where a man, his equipament and ideas could arive.
Arievilo is in contact with music since he is very young. He started to buy his first records with 9 years and to play instruments with the tender age of 11. In the arrengements you could listen to guitars, flutes, percussion, keyboards, bass and other instruments and all of then were played by the producer. In the arrangements conception you can clearly see the relationship of Arievilo and the music: how better is the fusing, greater the fun. The drums from samba, synthesizers, language of electronic music and the sophistication of the jazz are basic ingredients.
This way, Garoa Fina provokes a feeling of freedom, eliminating the limitation provoked for labels and bringing to the dancefloor a new eclectic trend, beyond awaking an immense curiosity to know as it will be the next mixture. Recreate in one only musical landscape, everything what we see, hear and feel, in the past and in the future and now a days. Garoa Fina is also a way to look and to show the world around us with music. To join everything what is good in one same music, same tone, same dancefloor. To mix everything, in favor of the proper mixture.
After sometime the project went out of it's musical cave to appear in the real world. The first project "out of the box" was a series of 14 podcasts of mixed themes joined by the renowned Djs from Sao Paulo Leonardo Ruas and Beto Chuquer a.k.a URBANcolectiv. called Garoa Fina Podcast with the best and brand new of their collections.
The podcast was such a huge success that their collections started to be really wanted by Sao Paulo's music lovers. Then Garoa Fina and URBANcollectiv. started in 2009 a brand new project called Jazz Nights on one of the best and finest restaurants of the city, the well known Cafe Journal. The project created a posh and comfortable environment on the lounge playing only records (vinyls) of all different kinds of Jazz. Garoa Fina's highlight was the brazillian, latin and world jazz records.
The party Funktion on the international Dorothy Parker Club was another great experience DJing some of his own tracks along with a brilliant Acid Jazz set.
In early 2010 the project has moved it's headquarter to the beloved London town. In the UK's capital the project has earned more urban elements an even more drizzle! Garoa Fina goes on touring and experimenting by the East London studios, record shops and venues. And COMING SOON! The Garoa Fina Live Band.
