In an already crowded pool of talented Toronto Djs, Gerard “Gcue” Valdez emerges as a respected underground house Dj and one of the local scene builders to watch out for. His passion for House music and the meshing of its sounds runs 20 years deep.Starting at the early age of 13, He originally spun Hip-Hop, Funk and R’N’B - until he heard Nightmares on Wax’s “Dextrous”...From that point he was hooked. As his love and dedication to the music grew, opportunities started knocking from those who recognized his talent.
While attending parties when the rave and dance music culture in Toronto was on the rise in the mid-nineties, he enjoyed, appreciated, and respected every genre of electronic music, but found his way back to his roots of house music –thanks in part to Toronto’s legendary, Industry Nightclub, where he was always inspired on the dance floor by legendary DJs, Cevin Fisher, DJ Heather, Derrick Carter and DJ Sneak, as well as, local legends Matt C and Kenny Glasgow. . His keen sense of track selection and playing for the crowd has allowed him to play alongside industry giants like DJ Sneak, Derrick Carter, Mark Farina, Josh Wink, Hector Moralez, Phil Weeks, DJ Heather, King Britt, Diz, Johnny Fiasco, Gene Farris, DJ Mes, and Jason Hodges.
