Beck’s Berlin Sessions

ÂME (Innervisions)
MOVE D LIVE (Running Back)
BENJI FRÖHLICH (Permanent Vacation)

6 – 21 November 2009

The Beck’s Berlin Sessions is a program of music events showcasing Germany’s cutting edge electronic music culture. Featuring a combination of established and emerging artists together with local DJs connected to this scene, the series aims to reflect what a great night out in Berlin is all about – music and experiences that challenge, entertain and inspire us. This is the third Beck’s Berlin Sessions tour in 2009 with the first featuring Justus Köhncke, Stimming and Marcus Worgull; and the second featuring Isolée, Solomun and Arto Mwambé.

ÂME (INNVERSIONS)

Delivering constant quality with music that is rocking house and techno floors alike, it appears Âme (pronounced 'Ahm', French for 'soul') have developed a new consensus for modern club music. From their infamous originals and tasteful remixes to their celebrated collaborations with label mates Henrik Schwarz and Dixon, their sound is easily accessible without ever losing deepness, complexity and a distinct twist. Âme are key players in the renaissance of deep house and their label Innervisions continues to forge its path as a leading light in the German underground.

MOVE D (RUNNING BACK)

A new star shines bright over the universe of electronic music. David Moufang aka Move D creates music with warmth, personality and sincerity. His records on Running Back, Warp, Smallville, City Centre Offices, Philpot and Workshop are among the furthest outreaches of techno's push towards the stars. Moufang grew up listening to early Pink Floyd and Kraftwerk records but the most overwhelming influence on his childhood was outer space, the result of a trip to the cinema with his father to see 2001: A Space Odyssey. Performing live in his first ever trip to Australia, the “D” is for deep, and the music... that’s for moving to!

“One of the year's most idiosyncratic electronic releases.” – Pitchfork

BENJI FRÖHLICH (PERMANENT VACATION)

Benji is co-founder of Permanent Vacation, one of the planet’s hottest contemporary disco labels. Setting a sharp pace since it came onto the scene in 2006, Permanent Vacation showcased influential early work by Aeroplane, Holy Ghost!, Lindstrøm, Hercules and Love Affair and Todd Terje. When not in the A&R role Benji is also producing under the Permanent Vacation guise with their devastating remix for Woolfy vs Projections Neeve being a highlight of 2009. Dive into one of their compilations to get an idea of what to expect from Benji’s deejay sets – an eclectic journey through balearic disco, deep house and leftfield pop.
