The blend of all these elements is insane. From soft samples to noisy parts, with add of sub bass and vinyl hiss...

Finally! I've been trying to track this down for about 7 years! Had it on minidisc from a Gilles Peterson show but could never work out who it was. Bravo - one of my favourite tracks ever. Totally inspiring. Dare I ask how long it took you to make?
-
nice that you found it! well i made the first version on a train actually, but then the track went through 2-3 iterations over a period of probably a year or so. i actually thought in the beginning that the track wasn't strong enough.. but then something happened and it became quite interesting.

This is why i love double bass so much. It's just sounds perfect and always brings something more to the song. Perfect example here. Gives the song an even more jazzy touch.

When that first horn stab comes in on the downbeat.... That's probably my favorite moment on an album filled with great moments.

I absolutely love that vocal break-out, "bring in the new" is it? Probably my favorite stab on the album!
- MonkCanatella on October 07, 2009 20:44
One of my favorite parts of the whole album! That stuttering sample is so perfect here!

The filter thing followed by the reverb-rimshot is a personal highlight of this album. Always get a big rush from that.

love the album.... and whenever I play it somewhere (even now - quite some time after it was released) people don't fail to ask "what is this stuff, it's great".
@zka4t: ya totally...does not age
