About
FM HI LOW is the evolution of sound and personal explorations by multi-instrumental musician and singer Fraser MacDougall. A sound and vision he has achieved by spending a lot of time developing his craft in front of live audiences and in dozen's of home and professional studios all over Canada, U.S.A, Australia, New Zealand, and Jamaica. For the past twelve years MacDougall has been playing music and enjoying pursuits into different climates and cultures while having adventures and conversations with people from all walks of life. As a result FM HI LOW resonates with a universally appealing frequency of positivity, unity, the pursuit of knowledge and self actualization.
Fraser Walters MacDougall AKA Frase W, is a singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumental musician from Montreal, Quebec. He has been writing and recording music under the band name FM Hi LOW for the past five years. With FM Hi LOW, MacDougall has founded what he calls “DUB POP”. A genre-bending blast of good vibes that bring you to the farthest ranges of reggae, folk, hip-hop, indie rock, and electro, all nicely arranged with a smooth pop sensibility.
FM Hi LOW’s dynamic, up-beat performances are filling venues and festivals all over Canada with people dancing and singing along, song after song. From this FM HI LOW has gained a reputation as the live band not to miss, who’s uplifting pop anthems will be stuck in your head for days. Positvely, lead singer and composer MacDougall writes lyrics attuned to the protection and conservation of Canadian waterways, the slow food and organic movements, human rights and justice, among other socio-political causes. FM Hi LOW is the vehicle for these messages to reach the masses one bumping dance beat and catchy hook at a time.
MacDougall spent two months traveling and recording in Jamaica in early 2012. He toured all around the island, playing acoustically, writing songs, surfing, snorkeling, working in studios, and jamming with the local artists and musicians. He was no longer seen as just another tourist after he shared his music, in fact it was a instant ticket into the underground. Jamaicans claimed MacDougall had an authenticity in his spirit and voice while adding new flavours to the Jamaican reggae sound-scape. While performing at the world famous Alfred’s Seaside Stage in Negril, MacDougall caught the attention of Sizzla’s Judgment Yard crew and was invited back to CHOP CHOP Productions studio for a session. MacDougall ended up staying for a week, working and recording in the west-end Negril studio. Amazing sessions resulted in a collaboration with Rapper/Singer JUTAH Rhymes who is featured on the new FM Hi LOW single: “More Than a Pretty Face”.
MacDougall and Producer/ Engineer Borza Ghomeshi are now currently working on tracks for the next FM HI LOW record. Ghomeshi has worked with award winning artists such as: Emmy Lou Harris, the McGarrigle Sisters, Lauryn Hill, and Andre Dédé Vander. His studio space and sonic expertise have added a whole other dimension to the FM HI LOW sound . MacDougall and Ghomeshi work together to polish and refine the FM HI LOW material. Adding overdubs, re-amping, mixing, and editing the recordings into master tracks that the modern listener and music industry demand. The first release by the production duo was a nine track album called ¨Up On the Hillside¨. It was pressed independently in July, 2009 and is sold at FM HI LOW shows and on Itunes.

Yonatan Rosando, better know as Henward is a turntabalist and DJ from Montreal. Henward has been killing it the Montreal Bass scene and is a regular at the weekly Bass Drive night at Le Belmont, voted as #1 club night in Montreal. Henward adds all the electronic elements to the FM HI Low show with sequences and fx,and skratches .
