Need a gift for a gifted musician?
Florina Speth, born 1983 in the mountains near Salzburg, started playing the cello and piano at the age of 6 and began studying music at the “University Mozarteum Salzburg” when she was just 11. She won several prices playing solo and string quartett ensembles, was part of orchestras like Bayerisches Landesjugend Orchester and Salzburger Junge Philarmonie all over Europe. Always keenly interested in contemporary music, she was part of performing ensembles in lots of world premieres.
After finishing school and her cello education she studied cognitive musicology, linguisitcs and music therapy at the University of Cologne.
Currently working in the field of neurorehabilitation where she develops multimodal feedback instruments, kinematic music and camera-based motion capturing for sonification.
Her personal research fields bridges explorative experimental media arts with science to get inspired output for technical solutions in neurological rehabilitation systems as in music perception and music performance.
In current live performances she is working with a set up consisting of laptop, cameras, cello, voice and a variety of sound toys.
