This was the Pharcyde's first gig in the UK and just as dope live as as on record. If you were there too and know the exact date please drop a line!
The group, along with producer J-Swift, recorded their first album Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde, then was later certified Gold by the RIAA in 1996.The album was highly acclaimed, and became one of the most praised and influential alternative hip hop albums of the 1990s.
While all of the Pharcyde sing as well as rap, their greatest asset has to be the voice of Romye, stage name Booty Brown. It's a high and reedy sound with a hysterical edge, giving the perfect start to the single 'Passing Me By', in which the group detail their unrequited loves (Independent edit). To celebrate the new book and website http://www.flipthescriptbook.com/FrontlineshopStory.html# there are a couple of giveaways and stuff! Peace.

the day after this I promoted a double bill of The Pharcyde & Gil Scott-Heron at Subterania. The day before the Pharcyde played at the Phoenix Festival on the Jazzterania stage alongside Herbie Hancock, Jamiroquai & Greg Osby.
