I've never been more excited about my music... and also, never more aware of the fact that I have NO idea what I'm doing. That's alright though... figuring out what works and what doesn't, and hopefully getting something good out of the speakers.
I was a drummer (a pretty decent one, I might add) many moons ago, then I picked up an acoustic guitar, and started playing around with good ol' Acid Music 2.0!
Little later on, I move to an efficiency in Madison, Wi, quit playing drums (with much regret to this day), and continued to not take my music seriously.
Flash-forward some number of years... I finally had graduated past the Sonic Foundry/Sony platform to Ableton Live. I was using a score composition program called Music Time Deluxe... Serious pain in the ass... Individually setting the time and key signatures for each piece, then clicking and dragging notes... ONE AT A TIME... onto the staff, and putting them wherever they sounded good. Take that score, render a .mid file from it, and drop it into Ableton for further work. This work can be found on soundclick dot com slash fixed, If you're interested.
I haven't gotten much farther than that... the majority of my productions now start life on the acoustic guitar, and are then composed in Ableton using a Korg NanoKey. Additional parts of the composition are then rendered through a Zoom R8 using a single mic and a PreSonus TubePre... In my Bathroom... the quietest room in my apartment. And obviously the smallest.
Everything is mixed down and mastered in Ableton with some help from a Korg NanoKontrol. At the end of the day, my six-or-so-year-old Toshiba laptop spits out a song. If it's any good, You Hear It!
Cheers, and thanks for listening!
PS - I have no idea how to play piano. It just "happens", and I'm not sure how or why. No Joke.
