Korrupt 's review of Perverse 's 'Barren':
"The second kick you’re confronted with sounds really large, I like how you hear the mids of it hit the eardrums with the first kick combined. The snare sounds very snappy and fresh through the reverb added, kicking in every two bars, which is an interesting effect. You slowly hear more elements come into the mix, nice build up – an approach that Perverse seem to apply often. The creepy background sounds have nice delays on them to extend their length, more of these coming in like emotional pads and choirs – nice arsenal of atmospheric elements!
"The drop is huge and the low-end is a thick layer of weight – just feel this! The percussion sounds on point, very clear elements as usual, sounding in the right place of the mix – and there’s a nice development of them throughout the whole piece. The drum patterns are nicely positioned – straight minimal approach. It’s sick how you suddenly hear some resonating growls come in, only a couple times in the whole track; definitely an impressive method!
"The break sounds very deep through the dark atmospheric sounds present, different type of sounds haunting you – definite sickness. The second drop is straight fire, all the elements of the mix come together and form one complete track. It comes to an end through a nice fade-out where elements disappear behind the horizon smoothly – all leaving serious marks on the mind."
"A mixture of the old with the new. We decided to release the Progression EP in 4 different volumes, this being the second. Each Vol. will feature 4-5 tracks of mixed genres and styles. Some of the older tunes don't have the production value of the newer ones, but we thought we would give them away anyway.
"'Barren' is an ultra minimal creepy tune that never got to see the light of day so we though we would give it away. 'Cluster' is an older track of ours that's had the support of artists like Biome. 'Space Kush' is a tune we struggled to finish, 2nd drop is a bit of a copy & paste job but it still goes pretty hard. The Shura remix is something different for us, a minimalistic/downtempo garagey tune that we enjoyed making, we don't play it so we thought we would share it with you to listen to. 'Homebrew' are an NZ hip-hop group that we are fans of, so we had a crack at a remix for a bit of fun and have had a few people request it for D/L.
"Glad you were all feeling Vol.1! Cheers - Alex & Brett"
