Having performed shows with Sam Phillips, Low, and Pedro The Lion among others, Seattle-based folk singer Robert Deeble is scheduled to release Heart Like Feathers, his first album in six years on February 7th, 2012. Previously proclaimed “an arresting talent, able to gain entry to places rarely imagined by most songwriters” by Paste Magazine, Deeble’s new work is deeply informed by his time off, in which he earned a master's degree in psychology and, along with his wife, became a foster parent to a baby girl.

“I felt my personal life starting to slip,” says Deeble of the time off. “I wanted to re-build who I am at home and not on the road.” On the Heart Like Feathers album, the details of the reconstruction are heard clearly on songs about life change and personal struggle such as “Undertow,” which grapples with the struggle of fidelity in a relationship. “Or infidelity depending how you view it,” elaborates Deeble. “It’s basically the movie ‘Once,’ only in gender reverse”

Released by: Mind Bomb Publishing / Dead Letter Records
    Release date: Jan 24, 2012
