Great keys, I love those expressions on the after touch of the key. I use a sample alot like these keys with delay. Good way to start the day.

Lovin this already man !! Has a great " documentary of antarctica " feel about it , in a very similar way to what BOC do in creating an almost magical parallel world. Great story unfolding !! Great complimentary sounds.....very nicely laid out.

This is lovely. I don't suppose you're submitting this to the ambient compilation? It'd probably fit right in.

    2. Evelon on November 12, 2008 00:36

@nhomas: That has crossed my mind. ;)

    3. nhomas on November 12, 2008 01:33

@Evelon: It occurs to me that you'd need to shorten it if you wanted to do so, since the time limit is 6min.

    4. Evelon on November 12, 2008 03:43

@nhomas: ah, yes. you are right. I tried to clock it to 6 when I did it (in realtime), but the fades were longer than I had imagined (I think I set the inertia speeds of my sliders to too slow) :) I will do another take, without the bum-note(s) that are in it now.

A note sounded a tad bit detuned? Not sure if that was meant but fits well.

    2. Evelon on November 12, 2008 00:38

@Atoms of an Addict: That is correct. I think my DAW (Jeskola Buzz) went a bit syntac error there, cause I'm using generative machines that spits out random notes but in a certain scale. This "bum-note" wasn't supposed to be there. I did this recording in realtime, so everything can happen (and they do).

    3. Evelon on November 12, 2008 00:41

      @Evelon: I can't spell..I meant "syntax error"..not syntac or synthec or synthax.

    4. Mr. Squirrel on November 12, 2008 00:45

@Evelon: don't change it though! it is really great. sort of unbalances for just an instant and gives a piece already rich in depth just that little bit more.

    5. Atoms of an Addict on November 12, 2008 02:55

@Mr. Squirrel: Agreed, I like it as well.

    6. Evelon on November 12, 2008 03:32

Yeah, it added some "human error" (even though it was my computer who triggered the note) so I'll leave it in for now. Maybe that note symbolises the brief human thought of "damn, I gotta buy toiletpaper next time I'm at the store".

Are the clicks intentional? I find them a little disturbing.

    2. Evelon on November 28, 2008 03:14

@nhomas: yeah, they are. I even put a slight delay on the clicks.

    3. Evelon on November 28, 2008 03:21

@Evelon: In the master I made everything a tad brighter, so the clicks are more prominent now. I will probably do a new master, less trebbly.

As far as levels go, I might take down the water.

    2. Evelon on November 28, 2008 03:16

@nhomas: You are right. I will have to fix it in the mastering again it seems, cause it was a live take. Can't redo it exactly the same again. The sparkly water is high freq anyways. Just have to turn that down a bit.

    3. nhomas on November 28, 2008 10:51

@Evelon: Next time you should record to separate tracks.

    2. Evelon on November 12, 2008 01:00

@Atoms of an Addict: Thanks! I accidently removed your other post where you asked how the "robot tongue" was created (damn soundcloud..can't edit spelling errors and stuff). Anyways, I think I used some drum hits that I ran through some distortion, FFT effect and some filters. = Clean plingy sounds along with contrasty mangled dirty drums.

And the slow fade works really well to end this song, too

chill soft fountain water drops drift mellow

This summer I went out to record a few fountains and water-installations around town (they are quite few), and I found one that I liked. It looked kinda corny with five thin beams of water shooting up and back into the shallow fountain. The weather was sunny and hot. I recorded about an hour using my home-made mic and minidisc. During this time I laid right next to the fountain, mentally figuring out what would suit the splashing sounds. This is what I came up with.
