Janus Youth Employees Picket

In recent years, the city of portland has gained a reputation for its tolerance of homeless youth and the strong support services provided to them.However, the city has also gained a reputation as a west-coast hot-spot for sexually trafficked youth.Late last year, mayor sam adams announced that the city would provide almost three hundred thousand dollars to fund extra services for sexually trafficked youth.The majority of that funding has gone to janus youth programs, the city’s largest organization providing support to at-risk youth.But this week, employees of janus youth who are undergoing contract negotiations are picketing the organization.They claim the organization is wasting much needed funds, as well as alientating its workers.
