Junk Kitchen #6: NEW MUSIC NIGHT: A night of really, really, really new music.
Junk Kitchen #2: GET OUT YOUR MINI: A program entirely of miniatures and mini-tunes
Junk Kitchen #1: MUSIC FOR TOYS: Music composed and improvised on toy instruments
The Junk Kitchen is a mobile, monthly concert series based out of the Outpost 186, in Inman Square, Cambridge, MA. Run by oboist/vocalist Esther Viola and drummer Ben Dicke, the mission is to present diverse, at times obscure music in ways which are inviting and consumable to audience members. Our series brings together elements of the music we love: accessible, approachable melodies and grooves balanced with experimentation, genre-blurring and boundary-pushing. While experimentation and the avant-garde remain in the foreground, these elements will be tempered by an awareness of what our audience appreciates. How can we plate the music we love in a way that feeds you?
