About
Esteban Torres is resident DJ and co-founder of Praia Urbana, Houston's legendary electronic music festival. He got his start in music at the young age of 12, when he was taught to play the saxophone, and you can always hear small elements of jazz in his deep tech sets. He was originally introduced to electronic music in the Tokyo club scene when he lived in Japan during high school, and he started to DJ when he moved to Germany in the mid 90's. This is where he got his start on the decks and while in Germany began DJing and helping put on events. After spending four years there, he then returned to Texas and as a result of his hard work and focus on exposing house music to new people and creating entertaining house music events, he has become one of the most influential DJs in Houston's house music scene. The music he plays can best be described as house music with elements of deep, tech, jazz, and Latin all together with a style that works for both big room shows and intimate venues. Esteban has performed alongside many of house music's greats, including Kaskade, Mark Farina, Julius Papp, DJ Spen, Olivier Desmet, Miguel Migs, Collette, Doc Martin, Mr. V, Alix Alvarez and Chuck Love. He is also a radio show DJ and host on the Soular Grooves show on KPFT 90.1 FM.
