Finally, long-awaited 6th episode of Erfunden by Deepbass (Darren Roberts) !
Deepbass was introduced to the scene in 2009 his music is best described as deep, dark, atmospherical techno. Born in Glasgow, Scotland. His passion for electronic music started from a young age where he would spend his weekends in record stores hunting for music, he discovered artists like Speedy J and Jeff Mills who really opened his eyes to the world of techno. He started producing music in 2008 and from there his sound evolved, always minimalistic, elements of ambient, hypnotic rhythms and deep rolling bassline's. In 2010 he launched his label Informa Records as a platform to express himself and to explore further into his brand of deep techno.
Three simple questions for Deepbass /
1. How did your career started as a musician/DJ?
Darren: I started as a DJ from a young age I got my first turntables when I was 12 years old and by the time I was 18 I was playing and hosting parties in my home town.
Not long after I decided to try my hand at making music myself, I done a bad sound production course at college but it gave me the basic skills I needed to get started, from there I invested in some equipment and began to build my studio.
It was a natural process for me to make the deep, dark techno sound which I decided to focus on, I had my first ep signed to Glasgow label BCR and continued from there until I decided to start my own label Informa Records.
2. What at the moment of your life inspires you?
Darren: There are a wide range of things which inspire me to make music, I spend most of my holidays going trips around Europe and hitting the clubs and festivals which for me is the best way to inspire myself.
I also listen to a lot of ambient music and film scores, I love the tension and atmosphere they create which is something I try to bring into my music.
Also I feel it is important for me to upgrade my studio as much as possible as I feel every time I bring in a new piece of equipment my music can evolve and take me one step further to creating the sound I'm searching for.
3. What are your future plans?
Darren: Lot’s of new music coming, my label Informa Records 5th release is coming which has awesome remixes by PSYK and nAX_Acid, my 2nd collaboration with Ness which will be released on Dynamic Reflection along with a killer Giorgio Gigli remix and also remixes for Shapeless Records, Pshycoskunk Recordings, BCR, Ketra Records and new label Animal Farm Records all coming soon.
For the rest of the year I plan to work hard on Informa, introduce more cool artists to the label and also arrange some more Informa showcases.
